The Self Talk Of Hinduism

Sometimes I feel like Arjuna when I have to do m homework or write a paper. Arjuna had a duty to protect his land and fight for his army, in doing so he had to kill some of his own friends and subjects. In a much less gruesome way, doing homework is the same concept, you have to do a duty that you are expected to do even though you may not want to.

In my comic, the girl is not wanting to go to work because she is tired and simply does not want to go. This relates to the message of the Bhagavad Gita because she does not want to originally do the task just as Arjuna did not want to do the task but then, after thinking about it, gains a more positive outlook and is exited about going to work to make money. This is just as Arjuna becomes more eased about going into battle because he is reassured that its his duty.

The ancient Indian perspective of the Bhagavad Gita would be very different that our 21st century perspective because the ancient Indians were applying this writing and its principals to such issues as battles and wars and in Arjuna’s case, killing his own peers. In the 21st century, we may apply the principles to going to work or doing a homework assignment.

The Bhagavad Gita , while mainly positive, could also be used as a tool of oppression in ancient Indian society. People of high power could really force anyone to do anything that they didn’t want to do because it is their “duty” even if it went against their morals or standards.

Feng Shuiing my Bookbag for School

I decided to Feng Shui my bookbag because it always gets disorganized and messy during the week and I wanted to start the week fresh and organized. This is also one of the most frequently used things in my life and I want to keep it clean.

To stimulate the flow of chi and keep the energy from being “blocked” from flowing, I decided to put all of the loose papers and pencils and pens or highlighters into either folders or my pencil case. Along with that, I took out two of my books that I use for my online ccp classes and will now keep them  home to avoid unnecessary clutter.

I used the five elements to balance the colors and shapes that I kept in my bag. For example, Alternated between the white notebooks and black folders in order to create a better balance. I also have a variety of different pens and pencil colors rather than all one color or shape. There are lots of variations such as pens, paperclips, pencils, post its, and highlighters.

Lastly, I used the Bagua principal to organize where my things went. For example, I kept my red pencils next to my orange highlighters to stimulate fame and future. Along with that I organized all of my black folders to stimulate work and my career.

Overall, I really enjoyed feng shuiing my room and created a more energy provoking atmosphere for all of my things for school. This also made me think about how just the placement of things can affect the energy and emotion provoked by them. For example, I get much less of a stressed emotional reaction when looking at my bookbag now and doing lots of homework.

The Taoist Walk

On Friday, our class took a Taoist walk through the cross country course, admiring the nature and looking deeply into our own senses and feelings about the nature. The most powerful sensation that I felt during the walk was a chil because of the briskness of the morning air, being that I did this walk at 8:00 am. This was also my first time taking a walk through the cross country course and i fond it very relaxing and also very interesting seeing that part of our school that I haven’t seen before. On the walk I heard lots of birds chirping because it was so early as well as the band practicing. I smelled grass on the walk until we walked past the sewage plant that smelled pretty terrible. On the walk I was thinking about how we walk past l of these different things everyday such as flowers, plants, and leaves and never really look and appreciate them. During the walk, though I was freezing, I felt very calm and serene, almost as if my mind was completely clear from everything.

This experience can be compared to Taoism because Taoism is all about contemplation and not forcing anything. I didn’t have to force myself to think or walk, or be calm and serene, It just happened naturally. It can also be compared to Taoism because it was a very thought provoking walk that made me think and contemplate the world around me, much like what is encouraged by the principles of Taoism.

How I Want To Grow In History 1181

Throughout this course I want to learn more about the history and culture of the world outside of just the United States and Europe. I want to pursue a career business and marketing, so I think this course will be helpful in learning internationally. I also find history interesting especially history that our normal history curriculum doesn’t really focus on. I hope to succeed and do very well in this interesting class this semester.
